Oh Danny Boy... the name Danny always meant a lot to me. Not just because of the Londonderry Air, but also a Roald Dahl book Danny, The Champion of the World. This little bloke is my champion.
He is 11 years old, and is an amazing kid. He could recognise some words by 18 months, and at 2 was showing reading and arithmetic capabilities some first year schoolchildren don't have.
He is not just smart. He is loving, caring, and has a wonderful sense of humour.
He is currently two grades up and started middle school at the age of 9, and will go to both middle and high school at City, a public school with a big reputation.
He had a very athletic spell in his elementary school years. He played club football from the age of 4 until hanging up his boots at 10, playing mostly for Midwest United’s first team. He also enjoyed running, having started cross-country at school when he was 5, run his first 5K at the age of 7, and started club track & field with GR FIRE at the age of 8, qualifying for the AAU Nationals in his first season at both 1500m and long jump.
He is the absolute first and last for me. As much as I love my wife, there is no comparison to the love I have for my first born. I would do anything for him.
This pic was taken at 8am riding the bus to preschool. He's always so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at that time of the morning!
