Kufstein, Austria
Kufstein is just a mile or so from the German/Austrian border, situated on the river Inn and at the foot of some 2000
metre high mountains on the edge of the Alps. It is a stop on the Munich to Milan north-south and the Feldkirch to Vienna
west-east rail routes. The castle, perched high up in the middle of town, is the town's major landmark. Strolling around
the centre of Kufstein, uninformed visitors have been shocked by the sudden playing of a church organ. The organ however
is not in a church but in the castle, and is the largest 'open air' organ (meaning where the sound can be heard) in the world. This picture was taken from the main Inn bridge in the midst of winter, with a relatively light dusting of snow on the Festung and the houses below.
